Two laws you cannot break are Newton’s Third Law of Motion and … The Law of Unintended Consequences Author: Tony Colle Thought: Troglodytes on the Move “Do you really want to be like ‘them’?” “Why are you opposed to progress and always trying to slow everything down?” “If you don’t take ‘The Mark’ then you must be a horrible person or maybe you are even (gasp) a Christian!” (Please read that with the proper amount of shock and derision.) Not taking The Mark of the Beast will eventually stop you from being able to buy or sell anything but the lack of the Mark will also make you a social outcast as well. You will be an impediment to progress and as useless as an appendix or other vestigial organ. Words will not be able to express the contempt and derision that Mark Holders will have for those troglodytes who refuse to get with the times. No wonder Neanderthals died out. They refused to advance. So not taking The Mark of the Beast will have the consequence of possibly being homeless and without food that isn’t foraged and possibly even being killed. But this series of essays is about Unintended Consequences. What are the unintended consequences of people not taking the Mark of the Beast? The true Church has always been strengthened through persecution. Those who persevere have always proven themselves to be the true followers of Christ and true believers. Those who have undergone these hardships have proven themselves to be more than Christians in name only. I trust nobody is interested in reading about or modeling their lives after milquetoast Christians. I doubt you’ll ever see a book titled “John Foxe’s Book of People who Bypassed Martyrdom by Capitulation.” From the Antichrist’s point of view the intended consequence of not taking the Mark will be poverty and death. The unintended consequences from his point of view are that the faith and resolve of those still alive will be strengthened and that the reward for all who oppose him will be great in Heaven. Perhaps a man’s unintended consequences were God’s intended consequences all along. Copyright © 2009 Tony Colle. All rights reserved.
